Christmas Concerts

There will be two performances showcasing the excellent talents of Kelsey Community School! The first performance will be showcasing our school's choirs on December 7, 2008 at 7:00p.m. at Our Lady of Sacred Heart Cathedral. Second, our school's Christmas concert will be on December 17th, 2008 with a performance in both the afternoon and the evening. More information to come!

Grade 3 Fiddling Ending Soon

Congrats to the grade three fiddlers for all of your hard work this session! Thursday's group will be ending on November 13, while Tuesday's group will be ending November 18. Thank you to everyone that participated! Hope you learned lots and had lots of fun!

Remembrance Day

Congratulations to everyone that performed in the choirs and recorder club! All of you did a fantastic job during Monday's ceremony!! You should all be very proud of yourselves!!

No Festival of Trees this year but extra performance!

Due to the fact that Festival of the Trees is falling on Saturday, November 22, 2008 this year, our choir and recorder club students will be performing in the local community choir concert on December 7, 2008 instead! Keep checking back for more information!

Christmas Concert

Hi there everyone! Just a reminder that our Christmas concert will be on Wednesday, December 17, 2008. With a performance in the afternoon and a performance in the evening. Also, if you are interested in volunteering your time and helping out with our school for this big event, there will be an information evening at the school on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at 7:30p.m. Please feel free to come!

Grade 4 Recorders

Congratulations to the grade four's for an excellent start to recorders this year! All classes showed some very good listening, the key to smooth recorder classes! It was great to see everyone trying their hardest on the first day. Can't wait to experience where we will go next! Keep up the good work!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am happy to report that the recorders have finally arrived and will be handed out after the long weekend! The will be bringing them home to practice every Friday, except for long weekends or holidays. Parents/Guardians, please make sure your child returns their recorder and duotang!
Also, we are about half way into our first fiddling session. For those involved in Tuesday classes, we will not be having a class on October 14, 2008, as there is going to be a staff meeting afterschool. Fiddling class will resume the following week.

Afterschool Choir

Afterschool is now being held at Kelsey Community School on Mondays after school. Since there has been a low attendance of middle school students, the choir has decided to stay at the elementary school. If any middle school students are still interested in joining, you can come by our school on Monday at 4!

Grade 4 Recorders

I have called for an update on the grade four recorders, and sadly to report that it may take at least another week before they come in! According to Empire Music, the recorders are sitting in Canada Customs so it may take a while longer before they make their trip over here. Sorry for the inconvenience. I am as anxious as the students to get started already!!

Congratulations Grade Three Fiddlers!!!

Congratulations to all of the grade three's taking part in fiddling classes this season! It was a great first week! Even though some of you might be finding it a little tough, it will get better with lots and lots of practice!! Note for parents: if you could please make sure to set up arrangements for your children to be picked up, or set up directions for where to meet after fiddling class. It would be a big help! Thanks!

Afterschool Choir September 15, 2008

Congratulations to the thirteen students that showed up to participate in an afterschool choir! You did a fantastic job on your first day, hope for many more to come!

Afterschool Choir

Afterschool choir has begun! This is for grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. Rehearsals to be every Monday afterschool from 4-5p.m. in the band room at Scott Bateman Middle School. Anyone interested needs to pick up a registration form from Mr. Legeny! First practice on Monday, September 15, 2008!

Fiddling Classes

Fiddling classes will be a little different this year! Instead of a different grade every day, it will be a different grade every season. In other words, the fall sessions will be for grade 3, winter sessions will be for grade 4 and spring sessions will be for grade 5. Fiddling forms have been distributed to grade three students for the fall! The deadline for forms is no later than Friday, September 12, 2008. Classes are already filling up fast, so it is important that forms be returned as soon as possible!

Welcome back! A new school year is upon us and there are lots of exciting news to share about activities in the music room this fall!

RECORDERS:

We are collecting $5.00 from each student to provide them a recorder for the year. Please hand in your donation as soon as possible so that the students can start playing! Financial help will be given to those that need it.

This year's Christmas concert will be an African theme! We are in need of volunteers to help out at this event! If you are interested in helping, or would like to share some ideas, concerns, etc. please contact the school.
