2012 Music & Fine Arts Festival Continues!!

Just a quick reminder....A small pink sheet went home earlier this week, reminding students/parents that our annual Music festival continues with performances by the grade four and grade five students on Wednesday, April 11. All the performances will be in the back of the library. Performances are as follows...

Wednesday, April 11, 2012
Grade Four Classes 9:00a.m.
Grade Five Classes 9:15a.m.
Grade Five Drummers 9:30a.m.
Grade Five Recorder Club 9:45a.m.

All times are approximate. We might start earlier/later than expected depending on how much time the adjudicator needs. Please keep in mind that there is a $2.00 admission fee for watching the performances, as a donation to The Pas Music & Fine Arts festival.

2012 Music & Fine Arts Festival

The choir students will be performing at Sacred Heart Cathedral the morning of March 21, 2012!
Recorders and drummers perform at Kelsey Community School on the morning of April 11, 2012!
Fiddlers are performing at The Pas Christian Fellowship on the evening of April 16, 2012!

Trappers Singing!

The grade 3/4/5 choir will be singing live on our local radio station (CJ-1240) on February 14 (Valentine's Day) at 9:30a.m.  Permission forms have been sent home and are due by Friday February 10. 

Grub Box Tournament

Congratulations to all students for your excellent performances in this year's Christmas concert! On to the next big events....Trapper's festival, Music & Fine Arts Festival and Spring Talent Show! Thanks to all students, staff, parents and volunteers who helped make this year's concert such a great success!

CRAZY CAROLS

It has been a great term at Kelsey Community School! Lots of wonderful music making happening! Just want to throw a reminder out there to mark your calendars.  Kelsey Community School presents, "Crazy Carols" on Tuesday, December 20, 2011.  Afternoon performance is at 1:30p.m. Evening performance is at 7:00p.m.

Festival of Trees

Both school choirs will be performing at the annnual Festival of Trees at Opasquia School on Saturday, November 26, 2011.  Performance will be at 3p.m., with students being present at 2:45p.m.

Music Room Update

Hello everyone! Great music making is happening at Kelsey Community School! The choirs are hard at work on their Remembrance Day pieces, as well as getting a head start on their Christmas concert songs.  The fiddling groups have had a good three weeks of classes.  Beginning fiddling group is a little large, but they have been extremely well behaved and are an absolute pleasure to be coaching right now! The advanced group are on the verge of heading into newer repertoire. 
Just a reminder that there will be no afterschool activities this week due to the SAGE (Special Area Groups for Educators, formerly SAG) conferences.  Grade five drumming classes will begin very soon!
Looking forward to getting into the spirit of Hallowe'en as we edge closer to the end of October!

Fiddling Classes

Fiddling classes...

Registration forms for fiddling class will go out on Monday.  They are due back by Friday, September 23, 2011.  Late registration will not be accepted.  As only 15 participants are allowed per class, I cannot guarantee that every student who registers will be able to participate.  Beginner class will be on Wednesdays at 4:00-4:45p.m. beginning September 28.  The more advanced class will be on Thursdays at 4:00-4:45p.m. beginning September 29.

Year End

Congratulations to staff, students, parents, and volunteers for an excellent year of Music Making!! The year end award assembly will be on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 1:15p.m. where we will find out who is the 2011 Musician of the Year!!!

Grade 4 Field Trip

The Grade 4 students will be performing their recorder songs at St. Paul's Residence on Wednesday, June 1, 2011.  The performance will begin approx. 9:20/9:30a.m.

Year End Awards

Students involved in extra-curricular music activites will be receiving an award in May for their participation.  This includes choir, drummers, and fiddlers.  There will also be presentations made on behalf of The Pas Music & Fine Arts Festival. Phone calls will be made soon for students receiving awards.  The date of the next award assembly will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 1:15p.m.  Please join us in celebrating great music making at Kelsey Community School!

Choir Wind-Up!

The Choir Wind-Up will be on May 26, 2011 during the lunch hour! Students are asked to bring their own lunch, though some refreshments will be provided.  Parents are welcome to attend this fun event!

ROCK 'N' ROLL FOREVER!

The Spring Concert is a Musical this year! Kelsey Community School presents "Rock 'n' Roll Forever" on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 7p.m.  Dress rehearsal will be in the afternoon. 

Grand Concert

The Grade 3,4,5 choir and Grade 5 drummers have been invited to perform at the Grand Concert for The Pas Music & Fine Arts Festival.  Both groups will be receiving an award for their high marks in the festival!  CONGRATULATIONS!

Music Festival

Congratulations to the Kelsey School choirs for excellent performances in The Pas Music & Fine Arts Festival! The grade 1/2 choir received scores of 85 and 87 with a red seal.  The grade 3/4/5 choir received a score of 88 and 90 with a gold seal! Well done! The grade 3/4/5 choir have been invited to perform "Rock and Roll Forever" at the grand concert at the end of April.  More information to come.
